The Camcorder That I use

Since the Redlands Strawberry festival in August 2008 I have been lucky enough to purchase a new camcorder, the Canon HV30. Prior to that particular meeting I owned a rather cheap but practical Samsung DV camcorder (2004 to 2008), it did the job but barely. In mid 2008 I was very lucky for a mate, Ben Downey to lend me his brand new JVC GZ-HD7 which helped convince me that High Definition was the way to go, he even let me take it to Adelaide to film the Australian Championships.

The Canon HV30 is rated as the best camcorder on the market, even today as I'm writing this it still tops the ratings as the best, see for yourself it has a score of 324 from the highly regarded review site Camcorderinfo.com. The Canon still uses video tape as its recording medium which means that the images that it captures are uncompressed unlike a HDD (hard drive) camcorder. For me the added length to capture is worth all the time it takes as the umcompressed video is a sight to see. If any of you have watched a blue ray DVD then you would understand the quality that this camcorder produces as it's blue ray capable....."Halfpint I need a blue ray burner"

Do yourself a favour, if your've in the market for a new camcorder, this is the one.

*The average 45 second vid is roughly 900Mb until I compress it into a 10Mb WMV file.
